It took a year of prayer and fine brush work for Danish artist
Charlotte Weppenaar to produce this Transfiguration Icon
(sometimes called Metamorphosis) for Archbishop Tutu. She
presented the painting to the Archbishop on 19 June 2013. The
painting, 45cm X 36cm in dimension, follows the original
Byzantine Icon tradition. Painted on a wooden board it contains
23.75 carat gold leaf in three layers. The Archbishop said he
would hang the Icon in his chapel. |
